Fort Pierce

Fort Pierce is located in northeastern St. Lucie County, is a very old community on the Treasure Coast. One of the best-kept secrets, and a relatively undiscovered region of Florida, is Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce. Located 120 miles north of Miami and 120 miles south of Orlando along the east coast of Florida, visitors will experience a taste of what Florida used to be with its natural and wild habitation. Major restorations have recently been completed in the downtown area and more are planned including the restoration of the Sunrise Theater in Old Fort Pierce on the waterfront.

Fort Pierce, Florida, the St. Lucie County seat, is the county's center of business and commerce. As an educational, cultural and recreational center, the city has much to offer.

As one of the oldest communities on the east coast of Florida, Fort Pierce has born witness to the changing tides of history - as well as the changing tides of the Atlantic Ocean - for over 104 years.

Friday Fest is held on the first Friday of each month along the downtown waterfront. Sponsored by Main Street Fort Pierce, Inc., this monthly community street party is a celebration of a Treasure Coast weekend. Friday Fest features food, drink, live entertainment, and activities for the entire family including children.

Downtown Fort Pierce has an annual Christmas program that highlights the area's finest choirs, performers and arts and crafts show in a glorious outdoor setting. A parade of various community participants paves the way for Santa who always visits this unique event. Following Santa's appearance, the City's Christmas tree lighting takes place at Indian River Drive and Avenue A Roundabout.

Fort Pierce City owned public golf course Indian Hills Golf Course has been a cornerstone of Fort Pierce since 1938. The Par 72 course, designed by Herbert Strong, challenges and welcomes golfers of all levels of play. For those not up to par, Indian Hills offers a variety of quality instruction by PGA Professionals, which include private instructions, group lessons and junior golf instructions.

The Manatee Observation and Education Center is open year-round and features a classroom, exhibit area and gift shop open six days a week. Manatees can be observed in Moore's Creek all year long, although more are found frolicking in the Creek in the winter months.
